Connect HubSpot to Discern
Connect your HubSpot account to bring customer, deal and owner information into Discern. Use that information for sales reporting and, when configured for your workspace, team hierarchy and commercial workflows.
Before you begin
- Have access to the Discern company you want to connect and permission to configure its CRM integration. Contact your Discern administrator if setup is unavailable.
- Use a HubSpot account where you have Super Admin or the required Marketplace installation access. Your administrator may also need to approve the app and its requested permissions.
- Confirm the HubSpot account name and account ID. If you use several accounts, choose the one that contains the CRM data you want to connect.
- Availability depends on the features enabled in your Discern workspace and your HubSpot subscription. Contact support if HubSpot says a requested permission is unavailable.
HubSpot installation permissions
Install and connect
- Open Discern and sign in. Confirm that you are working in the correct company.
- Open the CRM setup flow. In self-service onboarding, choose Connect CRM System, then select HubSpot and continue.
- If prompted, sign in to HubSpot. Select the account you want to connect.
- Review the app name and requested permissions. The connector used for this integration is Discern Connector. Only continue if the account and app are the ones you intended to connect.
- Review the optional email-access choice, where offered. Grant it only if you want to enable the corresponding activity feature.
- Click Connect app. If HubSpot requires administrator approval, ask your administrator to approve the requested access, then retry.
- Return to Discern and finish the configuration steps. Completing HubSpot authorization alone does not mean the first data sync has finished.
Configure your data
Follow the steps shown for your workspace:
- Amounts and fields: choose the HubSpot fields that supply your deal values and other required reporting fields. Check the base currency.
- Opportunity type and filters: classify the deals and select the records your reporting should include, when these steps are shown.
- Stages and forecast categories: map the HubSpot values to the categories used in your Discern reporting.
- Reps: review owner assignments and the people included in your reporting.
- Review: check your selections before completing setup. Allow the processing step to finish.
Some steps vary by workspace configuration. If you cannot identify a required field or mapping, contact support before completing setup.
Check the connection
In HubSpot, open Settings → Integrations → Connected Apps and confirm that Discern Connector appears in the account you selected. In Discern, confirm that setup has completed and check a known deal and its owner against HubSpot after processing finishes.
If the connection is present but your data is missing, check the configured filters and mappings. Contact support with the company name, HubSpot account ID, affected record ID and the time of the problem. Do not send passwords, access tokens or refresh tokens.
Why Discern requests access
Discern uses the permissions granted during authorization to support the enabled integration features. Review the actual consent screen before connecting.
| Access category | Purpose |
|---|---|
| Companies, contacts, deals and owners | Read CRM records and ownership for customer and sales reporting. |
| CRM property definitions | Interpret and map your HubSpot fields in Discern. |
| Users and teams | Support user and team hierarchy information when configured. |
| Quotes, invoices and line items | Read native HubSpot commerce data when that sync is configured. |
| Custom objects and their definitions | Support configured customer data models where the account has access. |
| Deal updates | Permit supported Discern actions to update HubSpot deal fields when enabled. |
| Optional email access | Allow access to email details for activity intelligence. This permission is broader than email subjects alone. |
Team hierarchy
For a workspace configured to use HubSpot users and teams, Discern uses that information to support the AE list and team hierarchy. If the required access is missing, ask your administrator to reconnect through the approved setup flow and grant the users/teams permissions. Contact support to confirm that hierarchy sync is enabled for your company.
Disconnect and uninstall
To remove the HubSpot authorization, open Settings → Integrations → Connected Apps in HubSpot. Find Discern Connector, choose Actions → Uninstall, and complete HubSpot's confirmation. Check the app name carefully if you have more than one Discern integration installed.
Contact Discern support to coordinate stopping configured syncs or reconnecting to a different account. After disconnecting, we will confirm with you whether your previously synced HubSpot data should be retained or deleted. Disconnecting is separate from deleting data already held by Discern.
For data-removal requests, contact support with your Discern company name and HubSpot account ID. Privacy inquiries can also be sent to info@discern.io, as described in our Privacy Policy.

Troubleshooting
| What you see | What to do |
|---|---|
| You cannot install or approve the app | Ask a HubSpot administrator to review installation access and app-governance permissions. |
| HubSpot says a permission is unavailable | Check the account subscription and requested feature with support. Do not switch accounts merely to bypass the message. |
| The wrong HubSpot account was selected | Stop setup and contact support to confirm the correct company/account mapping before reconnecting. |
| Authorization finishes but data is not yet visible | Complete Discern configuration, allow processing to finish, and check filters and mappings. |
| User/team information is missing | Confirm users/teams access and that hierarchy sync is enabled for your company. |
| The connection needs authorization again | Use the approved Discern connection flow for the same company and HubSpot account. Contact support if the issue repeats. |
